First off, thank you Dwindle for helping make my day! =D
Now, to the topic!
Recently, I've tried Vanguard. Still on the trial actually. So far, to me, it seems like EQ1 with a new coat of paint, a few new/altered classes, and a ton of new races.
Would be a fun way to play together and get to know each other, I think, before EQC comes out. Just a suggestion. We can see where it goes. =)
For now, I gotta head out. Will post more details later. =)

But it was a cool game, and it introduced alot of new things to MMO graphics. Like under water currents, and harvesting (when you chop down a tree... you chop down a tree ). Also the spells were alot similar to EQ if I remember correctly. It would probably be a good game to play together. But I'm not sure if I'm ready to go back and play it again.

I've been playing EQ2 in my free time, but if you guys find something that's free to play and good, I'd be willing to try it out.

I've followed vanguard for two years. I know most of what happened with it. I just feel bad for Brad Mcquaid, he had such huge plans, and...well, I'm sure you guys know what happened. I have a 50 shaman, and 38 warrior on Seradon. I'm not sure I'll be going back though.

Yay for super necroing a thread! =D
So, recently I've been all about this F2P thing, and 2 games have recently caught my eye. The first being LotRO, and the second being EQ2.
I'm currently playing LotRO (I've read a few blogs of people retelling their accounts of playing the game, and unlocking all the content without spending a penny; All done via in game achievements and the Turbine currency received from those achievements). I was in the beta of this game, and I very much enjoyed it in then, and I am once again. If anyone is interested, I'll link some info about it here (restrictions, links to blogs, what I think is worth spending points on vs what I think you should pass up; Need vs Want if you will).
EQ2, I haven't played it since it when free, or whatever, but it's SoE, and we all they are money-grubbing pigs. So, naturally, I am hesitant. But I've read mixed a reviews, and a number of them seem to be positive--of course, playing the game free has restrictions vs subscribing, but from memory there aren't many (the one erking me the most is something along the lines of you can't equip items that are Lore or Legendary).
I'd be up for trying either out with the rest of you guys, if any of you are interested. For me personally, this would be a casual thing; Gotta get right back into the school thing starting Monday (just finished up our spring break), so I won't have the most free time. But I would love to game with you guys, and I figure either game wouldn't be a bad way to do so. Personally, I'd pick LotRO>EQ2. Partially because I'm a Tolkien fanboy, and I very, very much enjoy the game.
So, you guys have any thoughts or suggestions?

Shards of Dalaya?
I have a low level rogue. It's free, the population is pretty big (600-700 online peak hours, 150-300 on non peak hours), and it's pretty solid. I haven't touched it in a year or two, but from what I've seen it's been improved.
If you guys are up for it, I will reinstall it. Unfortunately I don't have a computer fast enough to run EQ2 at the moment... I am getting a new one this summer.

I might be interested in that. I'd have to find Titanium all over again. For whatever reason my game.exe cannot run at all. Always tells me to run the patcher first.

If you guys are up for it, let me know.
I'm kind of starting to lost interest in EQClassic, starting to look for alternatives, hopefully EQ Next will be good!

I hear ya.
It's more or less become a community of like-minded-gamers to me.

I was hoping Rift would turn out to be something good to play in the meantime, but it was way too linear and WoW-like for my liking. Anyone considering Guild Wars 2? I think that's my next prospect. There doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz on anything else at the moment.

DEFINITELY consider GW2. Myself and a few college buds are actually trying to get our GW1 guild going so that we can get some HoM stuff done before GW2 hits.

Anyone here into computer shooters? I learned today that Global Agenda is going to going free to play some time this month. I enjoyed it when I played my trial account.
