I think I might be changing. Too many people on the fourms, from what I've seen, are going to be playing shaman. From what I've read, I do not think it will be a cakewalk to play as them (as I thought before). Also, I don't want to fight for shaman things (epic pieces, nameds), or be left out of a group because they already have one of the hundreds of shaman in their group. I'm really not too sure what class I want to be anymore =(
Was thinking monk, warrior, magician, or paladin

Heh, I had a little EQ mid-life crisis myself last night. We all have doubts at some point (that's how alts happen =P). Honestly though, I'd be lying if I said that Shamans were the most useful class pre-Kunark, they don't DoT as well as other classes until 45+, their nukes aren't the best, their pets are fairly weak, and their greatest asset isn't all that valuable either at first. That said, if you like playing a Shaman, go for it. Even if they aren't terribly useful at first (They are useful, in some cases), in Kunark/Velious they will be in high demand. As for the high population of Shamans, who cares as long as you're one of the best? =P As long as you are a good Shaman, it won't matter how many others there are. You won't even be competing with people below you much as long as you're known.

If you want to be like Jackie Chan, pick a monk. If you want to be a walking tank, pick a warrior. If you want to be a guy that gets passed up by a cleric in a group, pick a paladin. But honestly, pick whatever seems the most fun. Magicians are honestly going to be rare, and on raids their CoH is a great tool. They can also solo Tower of Frozen Shadow. Their pets are indestructible.

Yeah I'm changing to monk. Phin Esrinap, the monk trainer in Qeynos is how I got my name. did you know that? =)
I like the whole "pull by FD aspect" When I made a monk when I was 13 during the dragons of norrath expansion, I didnt understand that concept, and I made some groups mad =( Now that I get how it works, I'm sure I'll be a better monk. And how cool is it to be able to wear a robe, and dual wield 2 staves!?
Change me to human monk in the roster, please! =D

Don't worry Phin. You're not the only one. Recently I've wondered if I will be able to be all a Bard should/can be in a group, but time will tell. If not, then I always have a monk to fall back on! =D
Edit: Now that I think about it, I think I will re-roll a monk when Kunark is released, so I at least have some money, and I can get a few cool drops...then again, I hate twinks and will try not to do that too much. Not too mention, since I dun care about faction much and am willing to kill a few human monk npcs to get items to start epic, Ikky is the better choice. So I'll go Bard at release, then switch over at Kunark. At that point, I have a Bard taxi! ;D

The thing about Bards is it doesn't take as much planning or strategy as some other classes, but it's really hard on your wrists to twist all the d**n time. I'd never be able to play one, way too lazy. lol
