I started this thread on the official forums: I do remember BDA mentioning ages ago they had a dark elf storyline from back in The Day which they'd be bringing forward to EQC. Honestly, if they didn't just seem to recruit anyone who asked to join and weren't so very raid-centric I might have joined them, but being on GMT I am more than aware how rarely I'll be able to attend any events or raids so moot point. In any event, I know there are rpers lurking about in EQC, and here as well. It might do to make ourselves known to the community for future rp ideas and scenarios. I'm not sure how I'd feel about setting up an actual rpers forum - roleplayers have a rather worrying tendency to shoot themselves in the foot arguing about what rp "truly" is, and of course being generally lamthingyed due to the really rubbish rpers out there. Most rp communities tend to corrode from the inside out, and I don't have the patience or diplomacy to deal with twits, so I shan't be starting such a forum. However, I did decide to start a thread. List yourself if you like, or list the guild as well if you wish, Cas.

As far as I'm concerned all RP is is pretending to be your character. Beyond that, it's up to the individual, really. People get so caught up in obscure lore that they tell people that they are RPing wrong if they make certain incorrect connotations, or some such. What they fail to realize, though, is that neither of them are RPing wrong, or even in a different way, really. The only differentiating factors in RP are how often you do it, that's all. It's impossible to RP wrong when the individual makes up their character, because the creators know their characters best. If someone RPing an Ogre Warrior with an INT score of 23 develops rational thoughts that would take something well above that, it isn't necessarily RPing wrong, just an accidental break in RP. If aforementioned Ogre Warrior speaks coherently 100% of the time, that's not RPing wrong either...that's just not real RP. Either way though, you shouldn't force yourself to RP if it's not fun, that's all it's about anyway.

Hear hear. It's all about the fun. And indeed, Dalkice shall be roleplayed more often than not, as the sinister, calculating wizard he is. Magic is totally the equivalent of Science in Norrath. =P

I plan on roleplaying as the typical hot shot High Elf Paladin thinking he is better than anyone, making fun of wood elves, and despising all that is evil. Typical High Elf.
I cannot roleplay 100% of the time, but I will roleplay about 75%.

I actually remember a troll at one point who spoke in (completely correct) Shakespearean English. That did indeed rock, and I was well impressed with that player. However, then there's the invariable half-iksar/half-dark elf/adopted by wood elves who just happens to be the Avatar of Tunare on Norrath and insist you call them God/dess who make me want to stab my eyes out with a fork...but there's nothing to be done, they're going to appear regardless. Laugh, put them on ignore, or whatever.
I think there's a pretty good base out there for arpeez, so should be cool!

My solution to said problem leg, and yeah it'll happen, is a few things. My HE Bard/whatever if Bard doesn't work, if gonna be a straight up smart ass. The ikky when they come around will be the hard-as-nails hard ass, with a hint of smart ass. =D lol

I once played a kleptomaniac dwarven Paladin, now that was fun.

Whoever was talking about the hybrid avatar goodie-inkie thing, I agree. You won't see any of that from Dalkice - he'll flat out admit he's only interested in using other cultures to his own means, so he doesn't raze their cities. =)

So...maybe not everyone will agree with this, but I think at certain times, if we rp a lot as a guild, we should think up reasons why we should attack cities...like raid Qeynos or Neriak or stuff like that. Just a suggestion. =)

I am actually going to update the Guild Lore page on the website every week or two to keep a storyline we can roleplay to. A good one would be where the guild doesn't get along and the evil races try to team up against the good races of the guild and we go into an arena and duke it out and whoever wins gets a prize or something.

That guild concept is being done.Granted I haven't seen them around in a while, but they might not be too keen on having a guild about which essentially has the same idea, guild dramatics being what they can be. As far as city raids go - considering the premise of the guild and all the different people and races within in, you'd risk the repercussions of each race inguild coming down on your heads. I know it may sound fun, but there used to be a joke back in D&D "A chaotic evil group will last about five minutes.

Fair enough...faction isn't a factor to me, partially because I still think like a monk and I can play dead whenever, after I open the window.
