Ventrilo and Teamspeak are talking systems that require a mic and you can have your own teamspeak or ventrilo. Ventrilo is highly recommended. So i was wondering if this guild will be getting any teamspeak or ventrilo things SO we can stay in easier communication.

The Holy Order will not be using any mics on their official raids and events. They will not be banned to use on your own use, but only during the official raids and events will they be not used.
This is EQClassic. A big part of EQClassic back then was communication, and back then the communication was way different, text based. To use ventrilo or mics during EQClassic raids would be like buying a Honda Civic for the horsepower. It just doesn't make sense.

I fully back Casmir on this decision. Things were different in EverQuest back when it was classic, and for a lot of us (myself included) the draw of the EQC project is to get back the feelings we've been nostalgiac for. While voice chat is a great tool for games like EQ2, WoW, etc., it would crush a lot of the 'good old days' feelings that I know 90% of the playerbase is coming for.

true...it still would be good to use it for getting everyone together and guilding ourselves up.. i mean the only thing i know i don't want to use it for is raiding, because that was pure macro and typing. I fully understand that part, but stuff like grouping each other together could be used for that, or if its just a trial thing to use the system for like a week we can get everyone to one spot to start the guild at least, it could be easier for that. I never meant to just keep the voice thing on, just to get the guild started.

why would it be necessary to get the guild started when chat works just as well for that, or even the forums, just saying "meet here at this time"?
I shan't be using the thing, breaks my immersion in the worst way.

I shan't be using the thing, breaks my immersion in the worst way. I agree. The only time I've ever used Ventrilo is on Raids in EQ2 when it was required. Even with their integrated voice chat thing now, I keep it off.

"Did I do that?" Heh, I don't like to use it, but it really doesn't bother me much. I just don't like it because I can't listen to music or do anything else with my headset on.

I personally dont like it because ive been in a guild on live and using ventrillo/teamspeak ruined the guild because there was certain people who had it and others who didnt, and if you didnt have it then you couldnt get the good groups and everything soo

I agree with the immersion comment. Ruins it for me as well. Plus when I use it on WoW some people just want to blah, blah, blah non-stop... I'm for text chat, personally. It makes it easier on the RP'ers and it just seems more classic.

I am up for anything like starting a mail chain where we use the constellations to encrypt are next move I will start... Though I agree about the raiding aspect, but not the immersion, there is always the need or want to hear the fellow adventurer talk i think it adds immersion value, though i back the non use of talk mechnisms for classic sake

I personally think it's fine, especially for getting to know people better, and I'd be happy to let anyone who wants to use my clan's vent. Obviously, it'd be completely optional.

well it'd be fine as long as the people in vent didnt forget that there were others not on the server that couldn't hear them.
